At the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH), we are committed to providing a comprehensive and challenging internship program for aspiring veterinary surgeons. As a Surgical Resident, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced surgical team, assisting with diagnosis, surgical treatment, and post-operative care of surgical patients.
The internship is designed to prepare you for a residency in small animal surgery and will provide you with a broad range of orthopaedic and soft tissue cases. You will be exposed to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, including digital radiology, MRI, CT scanner, X-ray, and ultrasound.
As a member of our team, you will be expected to participate in daily rounds and client communication, as well as assist with preparation towards membership of the ANZCVS. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with our rehabilitation therapists and assist with access to laser and hydrotherapy tank treatments.
The internship has been structured to provide a 12-month period of mentored learning, with the option to extend to 18 months if appropriate. This will allow you to complete guided projects in the hospital's clinical research areas and present your findings at a scientific meeting and publish in a peer-reviewed journal.
