About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Manager to join our team at AGL. As a key member of our Integrated Energy division, you will play a critical role in securing commercial agreements for renewable power, battery agreements, and/or carbon.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Australian power market and the drivers behind renewable power, battery agreements, and/or carbon contracting arrangements. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with market participants, customers, project developers, and market operators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originating contracting opportunities to fulfill AGL's strategic objectives to transition to a low carbon portfolio
  • Support contract negotiations for power purchase agreements, offtake agreements, complex customer sales contracting
  • Build and maintain relationships with market participants, customers, project developers, and market operators
  • Provide guidance to other teams across Integrated Energy, Trading and Treasury Risk, Corporate Development and Finance in order to manage the entire deal lifecycle, from opportunity identification to negotiations and post-execution activities
  • Support complex and bespoke negotiations, document transactions, and implementation of commercial arrangements
  • Develop business cases to support transactions with the support of the analytical team
  • Manage supply agreements existing in the portfolio, including enhancing processes to enforce contract specifications and resolve conflict where breaches or non-compliance occur
  • Identify and develop opportunities for AGL to expand its activities in existing markets

About You:

You will have a tertiary qualification in Law, Finance, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline. Experience leading complex negotiations in the energy market will be highly considered. You will also have the ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships at all levels.
