Community Waste Management Specialist

The Litter Prevention Champion will engage and educate the community to improve understanding and behaviour to prevent litter and illegal dumping, utilising a behaviour change framework.
Key objectives include developing and delivering a strategic plan to enhance waste management at rooming houses and rental properties, leading enforcement on litter and dumping when education does not result in behaviour change, and coordinating a Litter prevention taskforce to build the capacity of other authorised officers.
Additionally, the role involves delivering Litter Prevention outcomes, coordinating Councils Litter Prevention actions, and building Council's profile in Litter Prevention. A focus on the residential area surrounding Monash University Clayton campus is a priority.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best practice approaches to preventing litter, as well as a good understanding of local government regulations, statutory requirements, investigation, resolution, and enforcement processes.
A high level of self-motivation, initiative, problem-solving, and analytical skills are essential, along with ability to manage time, set priorities, achieve goals, and meet deadlines.
You will also need to possess a Victorian Drivers Licence and undergo an Employee Working with Children's Check, Satisfactory National Police Check, and other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.
