Legal Leadership Position

This is a strategic and hands-on role, advising the business on commercial, operational, and regulatory matters while ensuring legal frameworks and risk management systems are robust and future-focused.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Providing Legal Advice: Offering high-level legal guidance on commercial risks, acquisitions, divestments, contracts, leases, and litigation to ensure the organization's interests are protected.
  • Commercial Contract Governance: Managing commercial contract governance, including terms and obligations registers, to maintain transparency and compliance.
  • External Relationships: Overseeing relationships with external legal providers to guarantee quality, value, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Insurance Coverage: Ensuring insurance coverage is appropriate, cost-effective, and fit for purpose to minimize potential risks.
  • Administrative Tasks: Performing company secretary duties for Australian operations, providing essential administrative support.
  • Lease Administration: Managing lease administration in partnership with the Property and Facilities team, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Compliance Oversight: Overseeing compliance with key legislative obligations, including Privacy, Modern Slavery, Conflict of Interest, and Anti-Bribery, to maintain a strong reputation.
  • Risk Management: Leading the development and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, fostering a culture of proactive risk management.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Working closely with executives, operations, and functional leaders to integrate strategic outcomes into daily operations.
Requirements
  • A proven track record of senior legal leadership experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage both strategic priorities and operational legal work.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, admission to practice in Australia, and current practising certificate.
