Insurance Litigation Associate

This opportunity involves working directly for a pre-eminent insurance practitioner with a strong focus on innovation, team culture, and the personal development of all staff. The role will also involve working with other members of the team, including Senior Associates and Special Counsel.
The role includes handling complex financial lines, professional indemnity, class actions, and director and officers (D&O) matters, both from a defence and coverage perspective. The role will also involve assisting one of the senior lawyers in relation to construction and engineering professional indemnity disputes as well as some commercial litigation matters.
This is a strong area of growth for our business. Our clients typically include large insurers (local and international), Lloyd's syndicates, and their insureds. The nature and size of the team will mean that you will be heavily involved in all aspects of matters.
Key Skills & Experience
- General insurance litigation, financial lines, professional indemnity (especially with a focus on construction and engineering claims), and director and officers (D&O) experience is preferred but not essential.
- You may also have a general commercial litigation background, construction litigation background, and be interested in insurance.
- Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently.
- Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
