About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Developmental Educator to join our team at Everyday Independence. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with participants, their families, and support teams to develop new skills and habits, and overcome barriers that prevent them from living fulfilled lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered support and planning for people with disabilities, their families, and support teams.
  • Work alongside participants and their key supports to develop new skills and habits, and problem-solve challenges that prevent them from living fulfilled lives.
  • Champion the role of a social model practitioner by helping people overcome barriers that keep them from engaging with their local community and the wider world.
  • Use evidence-based practice and professional reasoning to recommend the most appropriate team of supports, therapy, duration, location, and timing.
  • Develop effective and strong working relationships with people and their families, identifying and addressing factors that may affect relationships, and repairing breakdowns in a timely manner.

Requirements
  • Hold a Bachelor or Masters of Disability (or equivalent) and be eligible to be a member of the DEAI (Membership required upon commencement).
  • Be passionate professionals with a strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy.
  • Show empathy and understanding, while being open and non-judgmental.
  • Be driven to see high-impact outcomes in people's lives.
  • Be able to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check & Working with Children's Check.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
