Biomedical Scientist

At CSIRO, we are seeking a highly skilled Research Technician to join our dynamic team in the Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to work on a cutting-edge study aimed at testing novel therapeutics for human neurodegenerative diseases.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out pre-determined experiments to test protein efficacy in ex-vivo models. They will also isolate and culture mouse primary neurons from embryos to establish a neuronal system for testing protein derivatives. Additionally, they will generate 2D and 3D human stem cell-derived neuronal model systems for testing protein efficacy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out pre-determined experiments to test protein efficacy in ex-vivo models;
• Isolating and culturing mouse primary neurons from embryos to establish a neuronal system for testing protein derivatives;
• Generating 2D and 3D human stem cell-derived neuronal model systems for testing protein efficacy;

To succeed in this role, you will require tertiary qualifications in biomedical science or equivalent relevant experience. You will also need demonstrated experience in experimental research, sterile cell culture techniques, and working in high-containment laboratories. Furthermore, experience with data analysis, writing, and compiling scientific reports is essential.
