Position Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Professional in Medical Education to join our team at James Cook University.


About the Role


This is a part-time position working 29 hours per week, fixed term until 31 May 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and learning activities related to medical education, with a focus on developing and implementing educational programs that meet the needs of students and the broader community.


Key Responsibilities


The key responsibilities of this role include:



  • Developing and delivering high-quality educational programs in medical education;
  • Assessing student learning and providing feedback to students and colleagues;
  • Collaborating with other academics and stakeholders to develop and implement curriculum reform initiatives;
  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress and assessment results;
  • Providing administrative support to the Faculty and University.

Selection Criteria


To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:



  • A Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience;
  • Proven expertise in medical education, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external stakeholders;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines;
  • An understanding of current trends and developments in medical education, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Working Arrangements


This position is located at our Townsville campus, with regular travel to other campuses as required.
