Lead Humanities Educator

This leadership role is responsible for shaping the future of Humanities education at an esteemed independent girls' school in Melbourne.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to inspire students and staff alike.

About the Position
  • Provide strategic direction for the Faculty, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Develop and review curriculum, policies, and practices to maintain the school's leading reputation.
  • Lead, mentor, and support faculty members in their professional growth.
  • Oversee assessment processes, data analysis, and student performance improvement strategies.

This is a 2-year fixed-term position that offers a time allowance to enable you to focus on leading effectively while maintaining a meaningful classroom load.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive academic excellence and innovative teaching across History, Geography, and related disciplines.
  2. Inspire students to develop a genuine love for learning in Humanities.
  3. Mentor and empower staff, fostering collaboration and modelling best practice.
  4. Influence curriculum development to keep the Faculty at the forefront of education for girls.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in educational leadership with the ability to inspire and guide colleagues.
  • Strong classroom practice informed by current educational research.
  • Current VIT registration.
  • Ability to manage budgets, interpret data, and lead professional learning.
  • High-level communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
