Trainee Train Signaller Role Summary:
The position of Trainee Train Signaller is a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of rail services across Australia's largest suburban network.
As a Trainee Train Signaller, you will be immersed in a dynamic environment where you will learn about technical and non-technical skills required to work in Operations Control.
This includes reading and understanding safety rules, operating signal box panels, and developing problem-solving and quick decision-making skills under pressure.
Effective communication and teamwork are also essential in this fast-paced role that requires adaptability and flexibility.
About the Training Program:
The 5-week traineeship combines classroom and on-the-job training, providing a comprehensive learning experience.
During this period, you will have exposure to various signal boxes and locations, allowing you to gain hands-on experience and build your confidence in the role.
Requirements for Success:
- Good spatial awareness and strong mathematical skills are necessary for success in this role.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure with quick decision-making are also essential.
- You must be willing to plan ahead, adapt to changing situations, and perform shift work 24/7, rotating roster including weekends, nights, and public holidays.
- A driver's license and own transport are an advantage.
