About the Role

The Indigenous Liaison Officer is a critical position within our organization, responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with the Indigenous community. This role requires a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and heritage, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Engagement
    • Develop and maintain relationships with Traditional Owners and the Indigenous community
    • Support new Indigenous employees in settling into the workplace
    • Coordinate cultural awareness training for all employees
  • Cultural Heritage Management
    • Implement and manage the Pilbara Minerals Nyamal Cultural Heritage Management Plan
    • Facilitate heritage clearance surveys and protection activities
    • Assist in meeting the company's commitment to manage and protect culturally significant areas
  • Training and Development
    • Deliver cultural awareness training to all employees
    • Present at various training sessions, including safety and environmental training
    • Provide mentoring and support to Indigenous employees
  • Administration and Logistics
    • Issue heritage-related stop work orders
    • Coordinate transportation for Traditional Owners
    • Maintain heritage site inspection database
About You
  • Current WA driver's license
  • Aboriginality and a strong understanding of Aboriginal heritage and culture
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Physical fitness to meet the demands of physical work
  • Desire to learn and develop in the role
