Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Grounds Maintenance and Landscape Care Specialist to join our team at Allambi Care.

This is a full-time fixed-term employment opportunity for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and operational needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of all Allambi properties through grounds maintenance tasks, including lawn mowing, pruning, and trimming trees and shrubs. They will also be required to repair and maintain equipment, apply pesticides and fertilizers as necessary, and perform other general maintenance tasks.

Additional responsibilities include supporting youth in their job training and development, undertaking external works within the community, and working unsupervised for extended periods while managing jobs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment for clients and employees in accordance with WHS principles
  • Repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Lawn mowing and edging
  • General maintenance of gardens, including pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs
  • Applying pesticides and fertilizers as necessary
  • Rubbish removal
  • Assisting with additional tasks, including moving furniture, house set-ups, and other forms of maintenance
  • Maintaining tools and equipment to ensure safety and security
  • Storing tools and equipment appropriately according to the working environment
  • Monitoring, addressing, and reporting identified issues to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Motivating and promoting increased productivity
  • Quality control of site grounds
  • SUPPORTING YOUTH IN RELATION TO MAINTAINING A JOB IN THE GROUNDS MAINTENANCE INDUSTRY
  • Undertaking external works within the community under the banner of Community Property Maintenance
Work Health and Safety
  • Ensure all documentation is completed and up-to-date at all times in line with WHS Management System
  • Ensure adherence to WHS policies and procedures
  • Identify WHS issues and take appropriate steps to rectify them in a timely manner
  • Wear safety and provided PPE equipment at all times
  • Stay informed about regulatory and legislative requirements pertinent to work performed
  • Maintain work practices aligned with MSDS information
  • Be aware of standards according to manual handling principles and compartmentation
  • Perform daily safety checks of equipment and vehicles
Other Responsibilities
  • Carrying out additional tasks as instructed by the Director of Education and Development
  • Attending meetings when required
  • Undertaking additional training as needed for additional duties
  • Working independently and effectively for extended periods while managing jobs
  • Maintaining a professional approach and image at all times when interacting with external organizations, businesses, and trades
  • Mentoring young people
  • Awareness of client behaviors at Allambi houses and exercising discretionary judgment when performing tasks on-site
  • Ensuring understanding and adherence to all Allambi policies and procedures at all times
Requirements
  • Experience in horticulture or an equivalent field
  • At least 12 months experience in a relevant trade
  • Current Manual Driver's License
  • Broad range of maintenance skills
  • Experience with commercial ride-on mowers and other power garden equipment
  • High level of physical health and fitness to manage the demands of the role
  • Maintaining a tidy and professional appearance
  • Strong team working skills
  • Sound knowledge of WHS policies and principles
  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and time management skills
