About the Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Electronics Engineering Specialist to join our Surveillance and Communications business unit in Adelaide's defence precinct. As a key member of our hardware team, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining hardware supporting mission-critical defence radar systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in FPGA firmware development, with experience in VHDL (Virtual Hardware Description Language) design and testing. You will work closely with our hardware development lead to integrate new technologies and improve existing systems, ensuring they meet contractual and company requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing new VHDL firmware for current and next-generation hardware projects
  • Maintaining current product lines and providing engineering support for hardware and firmware
  • Collaborating with junior engineers to mentor and develop their skills
  • Undertaking product-level testing and hardware integration activities
  • Working with software, systems, ILS, and quality teams to ensure seamless project delivery
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree in an appropriate discipline, such as electronics engineering or computer science
  • Extensive knowledge of the engineering development lifecycle
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations
  • At least 3 years of experience in Intel FPGA VHDL firmware development cycles
  • Proficiency in Modelsim/Questasim Advanced Simulator and TCL scripting
  • Experience with hardware level debugging tools such as SignalTap
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP and network protocols

Prior experience with radar principles, digital signal processing, MATLAB design, VHDL implementation, RF/analog circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB design would be highly regarded.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
