About the Role

In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within a health centre setting, supporting the diverse mental health needs of military members. Referrals will come from various sources, offering diversity in presentations and support requests. Your role will involve initial intake and assessment, with flexibility to accommodate presenting needs. You will have autonomy to manage your caseload, including oversight and case management of externally referred cases and the provision of internal treatment to Defence members. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing crisis presentations, risk assessment, and risk management planning within a multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive mental health assessments and deliver evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support the mental health needs of Defence members.
  • Manage caseloads, including externally referred cases and internal treatment.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans to ensure the safety and well-being of Defence members.

Requirements

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in the last 5 years in mental health in a primary health or specialist mental health setting.
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
  • Knowledge of relevant State/Territory policies and procedures and national standards governing mental health practice.

Location

RAAF Base East Sale is located 220km South-East of Melbourne, in Victoria's Gippsland region, supporting approximately 700 personnel.
