Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Operations Specialist to report directly to the CFO. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, including preparing and administering employment contracts, facilitating smooth onboarding for new employees, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.

  • Process employee terminations and address payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly and ad-hoc payroll reports to meet management and compliance requirements.
  • Manage the accurate and timely processing of fortnightly, monthly, and ad-hoc payroll cycles for casual, part-time, and full-time staff.
  • Oversee the approval of time-sheets, leave requests, and expense claims.
  • Calculate monthly payroll taxes and ensure accurate preparation and submission of superannuation contributions in accordance with statutory requirements.

Assisting with a System Implementation

You will assist with the successful rollout of a new payroll system, ensuring a smooth transition from the current system by providing critical input into design, testing, and execution phases. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the accurate migration of payroll data, participating in system testing to ensure payroll functionality, developing and documenting payroll processes, procedures, and workflows, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure payroll requirements are met throughout the system implementation.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of payroll experience, preferably in a standalone role. They should have experience across all statutory compliance requirements within payroll, including work cover, timesheets, EBAs, and Awards. The successful candidate will also possess great attention to detail, be proactive, and have very good communication skills. We estimate the salary for this position to be around $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
