
Compassionate Home Support Specialist

The role of a Personal Support Worker involves providing direct assistance to clients with acquired spinal cord injuries in their homes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Transfers and Mobility: Safely transferring clients in and out of bed and wheelchairs, using hoists as required.
- Care and Hygiene: Assisting with grooming, bathing, dressing, and dental hygiene.
- Personal Care: Providing support with toileting, bladder, and bowel management, as well as basic wound care and self-medication.
- Domestic Support: Helping with meal preparation, household duties, and laundry.
- Community Access: Accompanying clients to appointments and social activities.
In this role, you will work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences, and develop personalized care plans to ensure their comfort and well-being.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong listening and communication skills to build trust and rapport with clients.
- Physical Ability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including transfers and mobility.
- Empathy and Compassion: Empathy and compassion to understand and support clients' needs.
