About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to teach early childhood education at a university. As a lecturer, you will be responsible for preparing preservice teachers for successful placement experiences.

The role demands proactive compliance with regulatory frameworks and involves enhancing student engagement and ensuring their academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop relevant material for early childhood education courses that meet university standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the quality of each unit and engage in professional development to enhance teaching quality.
  • Deliver engaging classes, tutorials, and placement induction programs both online and face-to-face.
  • Incorporate feedback from students to improve their learning experience.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the investigation and resolution of incidents.
  • Report incidents to the course coordinator/head of department.
  • Other tasks as required by the course coordinator/head of department.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You should hold an ACECQA-recognised early childhood teaching qualification at postgraduate level - minimum of a completed master's degree or PhD.
  • Have at least one year of experience working as an early childhood teacher in Australian early learning services.
  • Be able to work independently with limited supervision and take initiative.
  • Have strong understanding of Australian legislation, guidelines, operational requirements, and pedagogical frameworks.
  • Be flexible and willing to undertake 20 hours of continued professional development each year.
  • Have demonstrated teamwork skills and ability to contribute to professional collaboration and academic administration.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
