About the Role

The Software Quality Engineering Manager at Nuix will lead a team of quality engineers to ensure the functionality, usability, and overall quality of our software products are of the highest standard. This role involves developing and implementing testing strategies, managing quality assurance processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional software solutions.

As a key member of our Technology department, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of quality engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies that meet the needs of individual scrum teams delivering on product objectives and business goals, while aligning with broader quality engineering practices.
  • Oversight of test planning, execution, and maintenance, including creating, executing, and maintaining test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional testing.
  • Implementing effective defect tracking and management processes to ensure timely resolution and communication of issues to stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product management, development, and operations teams to integrate quality assurance practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Leadership in the development of automated testing, covering integration and e2e testing scenarios leveraging test automation tools and frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure CI/CD pipelines are robust and efficient while incorporating comprehensive automated test coverage.
  • Establishing quality metrics and KPIs to evaluate testing effectiveness, providing regular reports and insights to management.
  • Facilitating retrospectives and quality reviews to identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices in quality engineering.

Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in quality engineering or software testing, covering both on-premise and SaaS products.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing high-performing teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of functional testing methodologies and tools, test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress), and Cloud technologies (preferably AWS).
  • Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with Agile testing practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a detail-oriented approach and a commitment to delivering quality software.

Salary and Benefits

We offer an attractive salary package for this role, estimated to be around $AUD 150,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on experience.
