Traffic Planning Specialist Role

This role involves assisting and contributing to the development and implementation of a safe and efficient traffic and transport system in the Local Government Area (LGA), by conducting thorough traffic and transport impact assessments of development proposals, providing planning input in the implementation of traffic facilities and public transport systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting comprehensive traffic and transport impact assessments of traffic generating developments applications and land use rezoning proposals.
  • Developing, implementing policies and procedures related to strategic traffic, transport and road safety matters.
  • Analysis and implementation of public transport systems in the LGA including bus and rail services.
  • Providing expert advice on traffic and road safety matters including investigation, analysis, formulation of solutions and preparation of reports.
  • Assisting in the administration of the Local Traffic Committee, including preparation of reports and attending meetings.
  • Representing Council in NSW Land & Environment Court and community forums relating to traffic, transport and road safety issues.
  • Coordinating and obtaining necessary approvals for traffic management road permits, road closures and traffic requirements according to NSW Local Government and Roads Acts.
  • Planning, managing, coordinating and implementing traffic and transport projects within budget constraints and agreed time frames.
  • Ensuring effective liaison and communication with Transport for NSW, Department of Planning & Environment regarding land use and transport interaction.
  • Managing tasks allocated by Transport Management Team Leader and Manager effectively.
