About the Opportunity

The NDIS Mental Health Officer (NMHO) Program is a statewide initiative focused on improving access to and experience of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for individuals with psychosocial disabilities.

This program, run by Flourish Australia, aims to bridge the gap between mental health services and NDIS supports. The NMHO will work closely with local health districts and specialty health networks across New South Wales, providing essential assistance to those in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with mental health services to identify eligible individuals and facilitate their access to NDIS support.
  • Assist participants throughout the NDIS journey, including access, planning, implementation, and utilization stages.
  • Develop and implement strategies to build the capacity of mental health staff in understanding and utilizing NDIS resources.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  1. A strong understanding of the NDIS and relevant support options available.
  2. Excellent organizational skills, enabling effective monitoring and management of participant progress through all stages of the NDIS process.
  3. The ability to work sensitively with individuals living with psychosocial disabilities, their families, and carers.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Qualifications in human services or a related field, combined with relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
  2. Demonstrated experience working with individuals with psychosocial disabilities and supporting them in accessing and utilizing NDIS support.
  3. An excellent understanding of NDIS eligibility criteria as it applies to psychosocial disabilities.
