We are currently seeking a Principal Security Advisor to enhance our Cyber Security and Risk division. This pivotal role encompasses delivering technical guidance, consulting, and strategic advice to ensure our technological practices align with cyber security principles, policies, and standards. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring our security strategies and roadmaps are in sync with our organizational goals.
As a Principal Security Advisor, you will leverage your industry expertise to foster continuous improvement and capability development within the Cyber Security domain and beyond. You will be responsible for ensuring our security standards and policies are appropriate and that our technology adheres to security architecture governance and enterprise architecture principles.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert Security Consulting and advisory services to both technology and business stakeholders.
- Assist in the upkeep of Security Domain strategies and roadmaps.
- Develop high-level solution architectures for the Security Domain that support the Cyber Security Program of Work.
- Engage in Cyber Security architectural governance processes.
- Collaborate with the wider technology community to ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and controls.
- Contribute to the creation and enhancement of Security Frameworks, Policies, Standards, and Guidelines.
- Facilitate the adoption of new security technologies and innovations that securely support business objectives.
- Partner with Project and Delivery Managers to design and implement new Security Capabilities.
- Identify necessary improvements and significant changes to existing security platforms.
Qualifications and Experience
- Over 5 years of security experience in large organizations, ideally within financial services, focusing on advisory, architecture, or consulting roles.
- A degree in Business, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Information Security concepts, including risk management, controls testing, security architecture, threat management, security governance, and secure development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Data Security controls such as Data Loss Prevention and security measures in workplace technologies, including virtualized desktop/application access, endpoint protection, mobile application management, Information Protection, and cloud-based productivity technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office365, Azure AD).
- Knowledge of industry Security frameworks such as NIST, ISO27001, Mitre, OWASP, and Essential 8, along with experience in Data Centre security technologies (e.g., Firewalls, Proxies, WAF, Secure Web Gateways, CASBs, Key Management, IPS/IDS), including Micro Segmentation technologies and implementations.
- Experience in cloud security architecture across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, with an understanding of Australian regulatory and legislative compliance (e.g., APRA, Privacy Act, PCI).
- Strong analytical, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, build and maintain strong relationships, negotiate outcomes, and influence stakeholders.
