About the Role

The Payroll Officer will play a critical role in processing and maintaining accurate payroll records for staff, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and relevant Award and Agreement determinations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain accurate payroll records for approximately 1,000 employees on a fortnightly basis.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Produce accurate and timely fortnightly and monthly payroll reports in collaboration with the Payroll Accountant.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports as requested by management.
  • Issue statements of service as required.
  • Stay up-to-date with legislative changes related to wage and salary taxation.
  • Contribute to ensuring HammondCare meets legislative requirements through the deduction and remittance of PAYG tax, Superannuation Guarantee, and other payroll deductions.
  • Maintain payroll compliance with relevant Award and Agreement determinations.
  • Process new employee records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure employee leave balances are up-to-date.
  • Oversee overpayment recovery and documentation.
  • Ensure employee electronic pay files are up-to-date to support payroll data.
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver a professional service to staff.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with external suppliers, including payroll software providers.

About You

  • Commitment to align with HammondCare's Christian Mission, Motivation, and Mission in Action.
  • Tertiary degree in finance or related field, or significant industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in high-volume payroll processing.
  • Strong administrative and MS Office skills.
  • Proficiency in computerized payroll and time-attendance systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a large team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High attention to detail and accurate data entry.
  • Empathy and patience.
