Transportation Operations Manager

Job Overview
The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the supervision of all transportation activities at a major facility. This role involves directing, coordinating, supervising, and achieving service objectives with regard to local cartage, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently with agreed standards in operational procedures including strong emphasis on safety requirements.
About the Role
- Effective and efficient allocation of company assets to maximise return to business.
- Direct drivers as to what must be loaded, as well as safe and secure methods of accomplishing loading in an efficient and effective manner.
- Monitor pickups and deliveries ensuring customers and relevant personnel are promptly advised of inability to achieve planned requirements.
- Ensure appropriate equipment is available and in good order and condition.
- Participate in roll-out of toolbox meetings and other communications to workers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Proven experience in Transport/Logistics industry within a similar role.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the area.
- Excellent problem solving and forward planning abilities.
- Customer service skills, positive attitude with very strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative working style with strong integrity and initiative.
- Proficient in MS Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Requirements
This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in transportation management, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
