As a seasoned Training and Assessment Professional, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing workforce capability at our Hedland Operations.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity for an experienced Trainer and Assessor to support the delivery of high-quality, practical training and assessments across site operations.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in heavy equipment or fixed plant operations, along with a strong understanding of industry safety standards and RTO compliance.

  • Deliver face-to-face training and assessments, including Verification of Competency (VOC) for mobile equipment and fixed plant operations
  • Coordinate, implement, and continuously improve site-specific training programs to align with operational requirements and regulatory standards
  • Develop, validate, and moderate Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS), learning resources, and assessment tools to ensure quality and compliance with RTO standards
  • Regularly review and update assessments, documents, and procedures to reflect current best practices as well as operational changes
  • Conduct internal audits and safety inspections related to training and competency assurance, contributing to continuous improvement in safety and performance
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to developing operators and new employees, fostering a culture of safety, development, and competency across site operations
  • Collaborate with operational and safety teams to identify training needs and address skill gaps proactively

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience operating heavy equipment, specifically Dozers and Excavators, within a mining or similar high-risk environment
  • A proven background in fixed plant operations, with a strong focus on industry-relevant competencies and safety protocols
  • A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
  • Experience working within a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or involvement with RTO processes, including compliance, validation, and assessment practices
