About the Role

The NSW Health is seeking a highly skilled Project Officer to join the One Health Branch, Health Protection NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and project support expertise in relation to communicable disease control, with a strong focus on developing and maintaining surveillance tools, and communicating with inter- and intra-Government partners and the public health network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures for state-wide surveillance and reporting
  • Provide cross-branch advice and support
  • Work closely with branches to develop and implement outbreak response strategies
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including Government partners and the public health network
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a public health field, preferably foodborne disease investigations
  • Proven experience in disease surveillance and management of disease outbreaks
  • Demonstrated experience with managing databases independently and undertaking data quality activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound analytical skills, including the ability to analyse and interpret information, prepare and present analysis and reports, solve problems creatively and drive business objectives and solutions
  • High-level experience in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, database applications such as Redcap, and statistical analysis programs such as SAS or R
  • Good understanding of epidemiology and biostatistical methods
  • High-level organisation and time management skills, including demonstrated initiative and ability to meet deadlines with multiple co-occurring priorities
