About the Role
">As a Senior Health and Safety Manager, you will lead the delivery of our Health and Safety Performance Plan, providing strategic oversight and technical expertise across the function. This pivotal role is responsible for guiding a team of health and safety professionals, ensuring best practice is embedded and aligned with critical risk management and compliance expectations.
You will work closely with HSEC and operational leaders to translate strategy into action—driving safety performance, simplifying standards, and fostering a strong safety culture across all sites. This is a high-impact role focused on capability development, continuous improvement, and supporting our goal to be the Best Operator.
In this role, you will report to the General Manager HSEC and be responsible for:
Leading the development and implementation of our Health and Safety Performance Plan, providing strategic guidance across diverse teams.
Managing and supporting a multidisciplinary team of health and safety professionals, encouraging continuous learning, collaboration, and high performance.
Partnering with HSEC and operational leaders to strengthen safety culture and maturity through targeted programs such as the Safety Maturity Model.
Driving the implementation of critical risk management programs, including the Fatality Elimination Program.
Overseeing governance and continuous improvement of health and safety standards, ensuring they are practical, inclusive, and focused on critical risk.
Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver the annual Health & Safety technical plan, aligning with both strategy and regulatory requirements.
Providing support during key operational activities, including incident response and complex investigations.
Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, sharing, and applying leading safety practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
At least 10 years' experience in roles with safety technical responsibilities, preferably in operational environments.
A minimum of 5 years' experience leading teams, with a focus on inclusive, strengths-based leadership.
Strong knowledge and understanding of health and safety system of work; standards and key risk management and assurance processes.
Proven ability to translate strategy into practical outcomes in diverse, real-world settings.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to engage and build trust with people from a wide range of backgrounds, roles, and experiences.
Confidence and credibility to influence and collaborate with senior leaders, including Managing Directors and General Managers.
A coaching mindset—motivating and supporting others to grow and succeed.
Experience in mining operations and HSEC technical areas is an advantage.
