About the Role

The Asset Improvement Specialist will be a key member of the Engineering and Maintenance team at BHP Group, responsible for delivering value at the asset level. The team is accountable for delivering production outcomes, with a focus on leading the expansion of the mine by transitioning from a Sub Level Cave to a Block Cave.

The Specialist will provide asset health information using various techniques, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and NDT, to enable detection and optimal management of degraded fixed plant assets. This will be done in compliance with regulations and BHP's policies, procedures, and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be a member of a team focused on continually improving the performance and reliability of the fixed plant, through the application of asset health information to enable timely decision-making.
  • Ensure inspections and assessments are completed as scheduled, with any defects recorded in the SAP system and escalated if they pose a risk to the operation.
  • Support Maintenance Execution with ad-hoc inspection and analysis.
  • Ensure all specialist tooling is managed and maintained to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Actively collaborate within the team to harness the multi-discipline skills available.
  • Comply with standard department business processes and communicate these effectively.
  • Seek opportunities to improve tools, practices, development of people, and processes.
  • Ensure improvements are implemented in a safe, effective, and financially responsible manner.
About You
  • Qualified VCAT 3.
  • Desirable TCAT 1, LCAT 1/MLT1, and UCAT1.
  • Safety-oriented with sound OH&S knowledge and specific statutory obligations.
  • Demonstrated experience in operational site condition monitoring and NDT testing.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills using multiple data sources and established methodologies.
  • Ability to provide sound, timely, and pragmatic technical feedback to site teams.
  • Experience using Emerson Machinery Health Manager and SAP CMMS.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Management of contractor resources.
