Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate Knowledge: Utilize current information and personal experience to enhance decision-making and clinical care in mental health nursing.
  • Deliver Expert Care: Provide direct clinical mental health care, implement therapeutic interventions, and manage individual cases, evaluating consumer progress.
  • Support Integrated Care: Offer expert assessments and advice to local clinical teams for integrated nursing care within a risk management framework.
  • Make Independent Decisions: Exercise independent clinical decision-making in areas of expertise.
  • Collaborate Multidisciplinary: Apply mental health expertise in multidisciplinary settings to assess consumers and implement interventions.
  • Plan Discharges: Facilitate complex discharge planning and hospital avoidance through education and referrals.
Requirements
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding a current practicing certificate.
  • Must possess a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mental health nursing practices aligned with relevant standards.
  • Experience in supervising and leading multidisciplinary teams, including student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses and/or midwives.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal consumers.
