Positive Behaviour Support Specialist

This role involves working with allied health practitioners, support workers and family members to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients with complex diagnoses.

The ideal candidate will have experience in psychology, counselling or a related field and be registered with the NDIS as a behaviour practitioner. They will also need a car and licence, and relevant clearances including a National Police Clearance and Working With Children Check.

About the Role

As a Positive Behaviour Support Specialist you will play a key part in providing clinical services to NDIS participants aged 0-65 with various presentations, diagnoses and disability types. Your day-to-day duties will involve assessing and observing participants' challenging behaviours and working towards increasing skills, improving emotion regulation and introducing replacement behaviours to reduce the use of restrictive practices.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop Positive Behaviour Support plans and assessments that focus on increasing a person's quality of life, including improving their skills and enhancing their independence.
  2. Work with allied health practitioners, support workers and family members to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.

Requirements
  • Qualifications in psychology, counselling or a related field.
  • NDIS Registration as a behaviour practitioner (or the ability to become registered).
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and other complex diagnoses.
  • A car and licence.
  • Relevant clearances including a National Police Clearance and Working With Children Check.
