Your Role

As a Principal Water Resources Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical delivery of various projects across multiple fields, including flood risk and resilience, stormwater design, and sustainable stormwater management.

You will lead modelling efforts using TUFLOW 1D/2D modelling and provide review of model outputs. Your expertise will be essential in identifying opportunities and developing services that align with Stantec's business strategies.

This senior role involves project management, ensuring projects are appropriately managed and client requirements are met. You will collaborate with designers, environmental scientists, planners, and engineers to deliver innovative, environmentally sensitive, and practical designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modelling of creeks, rivers, stormwater systems, and overland flow paths
  • Lead or contribute to flood studies and flood risk management study and plans (FRMS&P)
  • Provide technical input into flood risk management projects and prepare concise and clear technical reports
  • Design water management systems that interface both surface and pipe networks
  • Prepare expressions of interest and proposals, and carry out other appropriate marketing initiatives
  • Engage with clients to nurture long-lasting relationships
  • Sound understanding of project management frameworks, experience in leading project teams, and excellent organisational and time management skills
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related discipline
  • Between 8-20 years' experience within the field of water resources engineering, specifically floodplain management
  • Experience leading or contributing to flood studies and flood risk management study and plans (FRMS&P)
  • Experience providing technical input into flood risk management projects and preparing concise and clear technical reports
  • A strong knowledge of TUFLOW 1D/2D modelling
