Job Description:

This role provides expert support in financial planning and analysis, fosters strong relationships with operational teams, delivers meaningful business insights, assists with budget development and performance analysis, and supports continuous improvement initiatives that enhance financial decision-making and service delivery.

  • Prepare monthly journal reclassifications across projects and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports and quarterly budget reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.
  • Support staff across Council with budget-related training and expert advice on financial systems.
  • Analyse financial data to inform decision making and drive business efficiency.
  • Implement cost allocation, performance measurement, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide strategic advice and improve financial literacy.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Degree in accounting, commerce, economics or a related field.
  • Chartered Accountant/ Certified Practising Accountant status (or working towards) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in financial systems, advanced Excel skills, and internal controls.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and discretion in handling confidential information.
