
Respiratory Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team in the Care of Older People in Surgery service. As a key member of the team, you will work collaboratively with geriatrics and surgical teams to deliver holistic care to patients aged 75 and over with a frailty score of 3 or higher.
- Provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for older patients in the surgical pathway, focusing on geriatric and frailty considerations.
- Collaborate with geriatricians and surgical teams to develop and implement effective patient care plans.
- Supervise and educate junior staff and students, contributing to clinical teaching and supervision across teams.
This role involves managing complex respiratory cases in geriatric and post-surgical patients, contributing to a transformative model of care emphasizing compassion, collaboration, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver high-quality physiotherapy services to older patients in surgery, incorporating geriatric and frailty considerations into treatment plans.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care transitions and improved patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures as required, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A degree in Physiotherapy and current National Physiotherapy Registration with AHPRA.
- Significant postgraduate experience in physiotherapy, with substantial experience in Surgical & Aged Care physiotherapy.
- Demonstrated teaching and supervision experience with staff and students.
- Experience in developing clinical physiotherapy policies and procedures.
