Key Role

The ideal Senior Legal Counsel candidate will possess the ability to demonstrate their capabilities through experience in both in-house and law firm settings.

They must have knowledge of the energy industry in Australia, as well as a general understanding of Australian law and the ASX Listing Rules.

Responsibilities include providing legal services for all aspects related to funding and financing, commercial and marketing, project development, project construction, and production operations.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, they will work closely to ensure compliance for legal, employee relations, corporate, governance, and statutory matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring delivery of legal services related to legal and reputational risk associated with daily operations, conduct, or transactions;
  • Acting as a trusted advisor, strategist, and sounding board on legal matters, providing unique strategy perspectives on project finance;
  • Assisting in preparing, negotiating, drafting, reviewing, and settling contracts, agreements, and legal documents;
  • Providing oversight of legal matters, including contract law, relevant legislation, and corporate governance principles, compliance, monitoring, and reporting;
  • Providing general legal advice to management, including negotiating, reviewing, and drafting agreements between professional advisors, third parties, employees, and others;
  • Preparing, evaluating, and negotiating contractual agreements and advising management regarding legal risks to support sound decision-making;
  • Managing and mentoring members of the legal team;
