Job Summary

SGS is seeking a skilled Coal Technician to support our team at Bowen, QLD. This role is critical to ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and analysis of coal and related samples in accordance with international standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring correct procedures are followed in all aspects of sampling, recording, preparation, analysis, storage, and reporting.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of preparation equipment.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Using CCLAS to book in samples and analysis.
  • Performing routine shipping and exploration project sampling, preparation, and analysis.
  • Coordinating workflow and pick-ups.
  • Working in testing, sampling, and analytical areas.
  • Participating in site housekeeping.

Requirements

  • Coal sampling, preparation, and testing experience preferred.
  • Good computer skills, with Excel proficiency beneficial.
  • Experience with float/sink chemicals, handling acids, and chemicals preferred.
  • Previous experience in a general mineral laboratory environment preferred.
  • Proven team player experience.
  • Proven experience working under pressure.
