Surveillance Leadership Role

This dynamic role offers the opportunity to shape and deliver strategic plans for animal disease surveillance activities, driving impactful outcomes at the forefront of animal health.

As a key leader in this field, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to inform stakeholders and government agencies. Your expertise will be pivotal in fostering influential relationships across industry members and contributing technical expertise as a thought leader.

A strong focus on communication will enable you to translate complex scientific information into actionable insights for diverse audiences. You will also play a critical role in Australia's emergency animal disease response, demonstrating your ability to provide out-of-hours leadership when required.

To excel in this position, you will need to possess a Tertiary qualification in Veterinary Science, as well as current Australian Veterinary registration. Additionally, senior operational and strategic experience in livestock health and animal disease surveillance, programs, and policy is essential. Experience in managing committees, distilling complex scientific information, and developing strong relationships with stakeholders are also highly valued.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Veterinary Science
  • Current Australian Veterinary registration
  • Senior operational and strategic experience in livestock health and animal disease surveillance, programs, and policy
  • Experience in managing committees
  • Ability to distill complex scientific information into plain English for non-technical audiences
  • Strong scientific analysis and report writing skills, applying epidemiological principles
