We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at Next Gen Talent. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a wide range of meals from our menu, with a focus on Indian cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use.
- Contribute to improving the menu list, kitchen facility, and business of the restaurant.
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.
- Prepare meat and non-vegetarian dishes and salads.
- Undertake portion control practices, arrange, and garnish food according to the creative ethos of the kitchen.
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities.
- Provide input in the creation of seasonal menus and new recipes.
- Season and cook food according to recipes or your own experience and knowledge.
- Help with stock management, including ordering, rotation, and wastage control.
- Ensure wastage is kept to a minimum.
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
Requirements:
- Certificate II or III in commercial Cookery with at least 2 years' experience.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
- Skilled in preparing, seasoning, and cooking food according to recipes.
- Understanding of food safety and OHS requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian Cuisine.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
- Motivated individual with a passion for cooking.
