About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Superintendent to head an Inner Harbour Civil Maintenance Team. Reporting to the Manager Maintenance Services, this pivotal role involves overseeing the daily operations and maintenance planning of civil infrastructure, ensuring all activities comply with Australian Standards, WorkSafe regulations, and Port policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Lead and supervise maintenance supervisors and contractors, coordinating the scoping, planning, and execution of routine work aligned with operational needs.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate and manage contract resources according to forecasted maintenance plans.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support on maintenance design, project scopes, schedules, and estimates.
  • Plant Reliability: Continuously assess plant reliability and implement improvements to maximize plant availability.
  • Budget Management: Assist with managing maintenance budgets, forecasts, and reporting.
  • Team Development: Develop and enhance team capabilities, staying updated on contemporary practices.
  • Progress Updates: Conduct regular team meetings to plan and review work progress, and provide updates to stakeholders.
  • Project Procurement: Oversee project procurement management.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Trade or Tertiary Qualification: Trade, tertiary, or relevant qualification in Civil, Building, Construction, or related engineering discipline with a Builders Licence under the Builders Registration Act.
  • Additional Qualifications: Additional qualifications in Project Management, Contract Administration, or Maintenance Management.
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in coordinating or managing brownfield maintenance and construction-based projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong ability to manage internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors throughout project programs.
  • Maintenance Scopes: Experience in formulating maintenance and construction scopes, specifications, work methodologies, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Occupational Health and Safety: In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health Safety & Welfare Acts & Regulations, with a demonstrated ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Computer Maintenance Management
