About the Role:

A newly created role exists for a 2–3 year PQE lawyer to join the legal team. The position is suited to someone with a passion for the construction industry, excellent communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice on construction/consultancy industry legal and regulatory issues.
  • Assisting in provision of advice on new or more complex legal and regulatory issues in consultation with other more senior Corporate Counsel.
  • Advising on, negotiating and drafting consultancy contracts.
  • Reviewing correspondence, advertising and/or other material to ensure the organisation minimises and mitigates its exposure to legal liabilities or claims.
  • Assisting in the management of litigation and disputes - advising on customer complaints and assisting with complaints from regulators.
  • Assisting in the development of training programmes for non-legal staff on relevant legal issues.
  • Identifying, escalating and seeking guidance on significant risks.

About You:

  • Tertiary law degree and current practicing certificate.
  • At least 2 - 3 years PQE in construction law.
  • Front end experience in construction law - drafting, negotiating and reviewing legal documents.
  • Back end experience in construction law – providing clear and commercial advice in relation to disputes and litigated matters.
  • Experience in identifying and interpreting guidelines, applying legislation, procedures and processes accurately within required timeframes.
  • Demonstrable professionalism in maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High degree of professional ethics, confidentiality and integrity.
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.
  • Proactively solves problems and makes decisions;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
