**Housing Services Officer: A Role in Public Housing Assistance**

Housing services officers play a vital role in delivering client-centred services to individuals and families seeking housing assistance or residing in public housing.

This varied role will keep you challenged with tasks related to tenancy and property management, providing housing advice and assistance. The role will be responsible for tenancy and property management that aligns with the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), ensuring awareness of tenant and landlord roles and responsibilities.

**What You Will Be Doing:**

No two days are the same in this position. You may conduct home visits, organize maintenance, liaise with vulnerable renters, help people with health issues, and connect them to supports to enable them to thrive in their communities.

**Your Key Accountabilities:**

  • Work with tenants to assist and support them in maintaining their tenancies.
  • Carry out regular property inspections and complete required property reports.
  • Attend court/tribunal hearings as necessary to represent the interests of the department.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of tenancy and property information that meets departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing strategies that connect tenants to additional support.

**The Skills and Qualifications We Are Looking For:**

  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable client groups.
  • Previous experience in a client-focused role working with the public.
  • Community service or housing experience, or even property management experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products for reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
  • Resilience and perseverance while adapting to challenging situations.
