Abt Associates is implementing the Investing in Women: Women in Inclusive Sustainable Economic Recovery (IW) initiative, a multi-country Australian Government program in Southeast Asia. The program aims to accelerate women's economic empowerment through increased and equitable opportunities in the private sector, contributing to inclusive, sustainable economic recovery and growth in targeted countries.
The IW program focuses on four key workstreams:
- Workplace Gender Equality (Workstream 1) – We support business coalitions that work with influential businesses to shift workplace cultures, practices, and policy barriers to achieve workplace gender equality.
- Enabling Policy Reforms (Workstream 2) – We support locally identified reform agendas that promote women's workforce participation, generate support for the business case for WGE, and build the case for the value and importance of the care economy to business and women's economic empowerment.
- Campaigns and Communities of Practice (Workstream 3) – We support locally driven campaigns in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam that highlight positive examples of gender equality to strengthen public support for women's economic participation.
- Gender Lens Investing (Workstream 4) – We work to increase investment in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that disproportionately benefit women in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
The Senior Manager - Technical Coherence will play a critical role in managing IW's strategic processes, coordinating work, and handling progress reporting. This position involves overseeing the research agenda with ANU's Global Institute of Women's Leadership and collaborating with the IW CEO, Directors, and Contractor Representative to engage with DFAT and other key stakeholders.
The Senior Manager - Technical Coherence will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with the Leadership Team to drive effective planning and strategic coherence across program workstreams.
- Working closely with the CEO and MERL Director to coordinate key strategic program processes, including annual planning, progress reporting, strategy updates, and all-staff reflection and learning.
- Managing engagement with DFAT and other key stakeholders, including promoting and supporting strong linkages between the program and relevant Canberra-based DFAT staff.
- Providing coordination and oversight of IW's research agenda, including the partnership with ANU's Global Institute for Women's Leadership.
We are seeking an individual with extensive experience in international development, gender studies, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program management, coordination, strategic refinement, and adaptive learning.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Advanced degree or equivalent in experience in international development, gender studies, economics, communications, or related fields.
- Track record in strategic program management, building effective teams, and influencing others to adopt best practice.
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, including an ability to deal with government and private sector representatives at all levels with credibility and diplomacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with clarity and influence, including online.
- Strong written ability with demonstrated experience in delivering reporting deliverables to a high standard.
We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from experienced and capable women. Please submit your application online, including your cover letter, CV, and response to the Key Selection Criteria.
