As a Medical Officer in our Defence Health Services team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality primary medical care to Defence personnel across Australia. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services that meet the unique needs of Defence members, and we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Officer to join our team.

About the Role

We are seeking a General Practitioner with a strong background in primary care to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering primary medical care to Defence personnel, including routine check-ups, health assessments, and management of acute and chronic conditions. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care that meets the needs of Defence members.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality primary medical care to Defence personnel, including routine check-ups and health assessments
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions, including referrals to specialist services as needed
  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care that meets the needs of Defence members
  • Provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager, and Commanders of units
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare services

What You'll Need

  • Current unconditional and unrestricted General registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)
  • Minimum of 2 years' full-time postgraduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent)
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification

Important Notes

  • You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role
  • You do not need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian on-base and your job will stay with Serco, even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed
