About the Role
Head Medical is seeking a highly skilled Palliative Care Specialist to join our team in Mackay, Queensland. As a Consultant in Palliative Care Medicine, you will play a crucial role in improving the quality of life for patients and their families facing life-limiting illnesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist palliative care services within the Mackay Health Service to patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Guide the management of palliative care patients in both inpatient and community settings.
- Lead a team of healthcare professionals, including a registrar trainee, nurses, and allied health staff.
- Coordinate the delivery of care within the preferred location of care, including clients' homes, residential aged care facilities, hospitals, and Multipurpose Healthcare Services.
- Advocate for the optimization of Advanced Care Planning across the district.
- Educate patients and their families about their diagnosis and increase health literacy to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) with specialized skills, knowledge, and clinical competence in palliative care.
- High-level specialist clinical knowledge and understanding of palliative care.
- High level of initiative and decision-making ability to make important clinical decisions on a day-to-day basis.
- Demonstrated ability to provide expert consultancy/advisory services as required by internal and external agencies.
