At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We want every South Australian to easily access the services they want, the transport they rely on and the infrastructure they need.

We play an important part in the lives of South Australians whether they are driving on our roads, catching public transport, boating in our waters, or attending a school or hospital we have built.

This paid internship opportunity honours the legacy of Denise Hatzi, a female civil engineer who was part of many major infrastructure projects for South Australia during her 23 years working with our department.

The successful applicants will gain practical experience that complements their academic qualifications and learning through supporting various day to day activities related to current infrastructure projects or works be mentored by a female or gender-diverse senior leader in the department spend a day work shadowing a senior leader in the department and be shortlisted to the interview stage of our Graduate Program selection process upon completion of tertiary qualification and demonstrated performance in the role

The internship provides flexible working arrangements, allowing students to balance study commitments. It offers an inclusive and diverse culture and contemporary workplace in the heart of the city, with state-of-the-art facilities.

To be considered, applicants must currently studying a degree in civil engineering at Adelaide University, Flinders University or University of South Australia hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a visa that allows them to work in Australia provide a current Australian National Police Check and be willing to undergo other required employment checks if needed.

The duration of the internship is between six to twenty weeks. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects, develop valuable skills and knowledge and build connections within the industry.
