Chief Sustainability Strategist

Job Summary:

Randwick City Council is seeking a Chief Sustainability Strategist to lead complex projects and initiatives that align with the council's sustainability and strategic priorities.

About the Role:

• Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic input, influence organisational policies, and ensure alignment of sustainability initiatives with industry best practices, long-term objectives, frameworks and regulatory requirements.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders including government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and industry partners to foster collaboration and support for sustainability initiatives.
• Project Management: Lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects on time and within budget while monitoring outcomes, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

About You:

• Ability to think strategically and demonstrated experience aligning projects to organisational goals.
• Proficiency in project planning, execution, and monitoring, with experience managing complex projects from inception to completion within budget and timelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage and negotiate with diverse stakeholders, including senior executives, government officials, NGOs, and community leaders.
• Demonstrated understanding of environmental policies, regulations, and frameworks at local, state, national and international levels, and the ability to navigate and influence policy development.
