We are seeking a dedicated and motivated educator to join our team at Derby DHS as a Primary School Teacher - Years 1-2. This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025.
About the SchoolDerby DHS is a dynamic school with a highly motivated, supportive and collaborative staff of over 100 people. With an enrolment of over 600 students, it provides an education program for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Students attend the school from the town of Derby and outlying areas including the Aboriginal Communities of Mowanjum and Pandanus Park.
About the PositionThe successful applicant will ideally be a dedicated and motivated educator who:
- understands the basics of how children learn.
- has the skills and knowledge to teach reading and maths following a whole school approach.
- will be committed to creating and fostering student engagement through the development of a supportive classroom environment.
- possesses solid organisational and management skills to deal with complex classroom behaviours.
- uses their interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and their families.
- has the empathy, patience and understanding to work with children with highly complex needs.
- can plan effectively using appropriate technologies.
- understands and employ the various types and methods of assessments used to identify student achievement and progress.
- possesses the technology skills and understandings to engage with technology in all aspects of teaching.
- understands the changing engagement norms that today's students are seeking at school.
- are committed to working collaboratively within a team of educators and support staff.
- are well versed in the Western Australian curriculum for Primary School students.
- understands and can deliver differentiated instruction, explicit instruction, and other evidence-based instructional models.
