The Strategic Communications Specialist will work closely with the Director Pacific Partnerships Unit and Director Tuvalu Section to develop and implement the Australian Government's strategic communications strategy and plan for the Australia-Tuvalu Falepili Union.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a Communication Strategy/Plan for the Falepili Union, identifying objectives, success indicators, audiences, stakeholders, key messages, implementation timeline, measures of impact, and risks.
  • Utilize all relevant communications tools, including media, social media, and public diplomacy levers, to support the Falepili Union's strategic communications and public diplomacy efforts.
  • Monitor key opportunities for strategic messaging, including ministerial travel, incoming visits, regional meetings, and global forums.
  • Provide technical communications advice, including branding.
  • Design materials for the Falepili Union webpage.
  • Engage with relevant DFAT internal and whole-of-government stakeholders to ensure consistency of messaging.
  • Consult with Falepili Union Program Managers and Designers.
  • Draft public information on complex immigration and bilateral issues for non-English speaking backgrounds.
  • Draft key products, such as media releases, media backgrounders, remarks/speeches, and social media content.
