Facility Information:
The Saanich Peninsula Hospital (SPH) is strategically located a short drive from a major urban center. Currently, the emergency department operates with limited hours, with plans to expand to full 24/7 service in the near future. The facility is equipped with essential diagnostic tools including CT, x-ray, and ultrasound, along with laboratory services available during most operational hours.

The surrounding area offers a plethora of outdoor activities year-round, such as cycling, hiking, and water sports. Additionally, proximity to renowned recreational destinations enhances the lifestyle opportunities available to residents.
Position Summary:
The Physician Assistant will deliver clinical services under the supervision of an Emergency Department Physician, adhering to the standards set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC). The PA will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.
Work Schedule:
- 5 days per week
- 37.5 hours per week
- Shifts may include days, evenings, and potential night shifts in the future
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience, ranging from $97,000 to $118,797 annually. Additional benefits include:

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care in alignment with CPSBC regulations under the supervision of an Emergency Department Physician.
- Engage effectively with patients and their families, ensuring a compassionate and culturally sensitive approach.
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team, participating in necessary reporting as mandated by CPSBC and the healthcare organization.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience in an emergency department setting.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant in accordance with CPSBC requirements.
- Must meet the English language proficiency standards set by CPSBC.
- Eligibility to work in British Columbia is required.
Mandatory Certifications:
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience with FAST Point of Care Ultrasound
- Recent completion of airway management training
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in computer skills and documentation practices.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Physical capability to perform the duties of the position, including potential evening and overnight shifts.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work under supervision.
Additional Information:
