The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our risk team as a Market Risk Manager in the Sydney CBD. As a key player in controlling market risk, you will help ensure the success of our trading operations.

This is a hybrid role, with four days a week in the office and one day working from home.

Your Mission at Life Trading

As the Market Risk Manager, you will identify, assess, and manage market-related risks to safeguard our financial assets. You will work closely with the Trading, Technology, and Operations teams to develop a strong risk management framework and culture.

You will oversee the Market Risk Framework together with key stakeholders, ensuring it remains robust and effective. Your responsibilities will include monitoring market conditions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving our risk management strategy.

Key Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of derivative markets, including options, and proficiency with risk management tools and quantitative analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate the financial impact of market fluctuations and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Risk Management Experience: Experience in developing and implementing risk frameworks to ensure consistent risk appetite across the company.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Continuous evaluation and monitoring of exceptions, with regular reports to senior management on conditions and risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Market Risk Manager who can contribute to our risk management team. If you have a strong background in risk management and a passion for innovation, we encourage you to apply.

Bonus points for effective communication, time management, and interpersonal skills, a Mathematics or other relevant degree with proven experience in market risk management, understanding of algorithmic risk management, 3+ years of experience building trading models, good Python or similar skills, and the ability to be objective and impartial.
