Job Title: Material Handling Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Material Handling Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our warehouse operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient movement and storage of merchandise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Moves pallets of merchandise using a stand-up electric forklift or electric pallet jack on the sales floor.
  • Stacks merchandise from partial pallets onto full pallets and wraps in plastic wrap to maintain high merchandise levels.
  • Ensures that all pallets being placed in steel meet Costco standards.
  • Assists with stocking merchandise, clearing the sales floor of debris, and checking signs for accuracy.

Additional Duties:

  • Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers.
  • Follows proper safety and security procedures and standards.
  • Communicates with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and priorities.
  • Operates cardboard baler and trash compactor.
  • Rotates stock as necessary.

Requirements:

  • High School Certificate or higher.
  • Current forklift driving license (Stand Up High Reach experience preferred).
  • Strong customer service skills, sales, merchandising, or comparable experience.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience, strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of electronics, jewelry, and appliances.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Data entry and data management.
  • Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and basic knowledge of AS400.
  • Basic math skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check for certain roles.
  • If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframes.
