About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Stock Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of pharmaceutical stock levels, ensuring that all medications are stored and dispensed in a safe and controlled environment.
  • Medication Preparation: Assist pharmacists with the preparation of prescriptions, including the packaging and labeling of medications.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with the ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals, including controlled S8 drugs.
  • Imprest Management: Manage and distribute imprest to wards, ensuring that all medications are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Pharmaceutical Inventory Management: Minimize waste and optimize stock turnover by checking expiries and rotating stock.
  • Assistance with Prescription Preparation: Assist pharmacists with the preparation of prescriptions, including PBS S100 items.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Assist with the preparation of medication records by data entry in computerized programs and the collation and maintenance of pharmacy data.
About You

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual who is able to work independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Policies and Procedures: Familiarity with Queensland health pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Ability to Interpret Prescriptions: Ability to interpret prescriptions, understand relevant abbreviations, and awareness of current legislation to facilitate the dispensing process.
  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Systems: Knowledge of ward stock systems, stock control, and expiry date monitoring in hospital pharmacy departments.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Vaccination Requirements: Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16.
